macOS apps
Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information MoneyPlant AI's macOS apps collect, how it is used, and the choices you have. Last updated October 8, 2026.
What stays on your Mac
The content you work with in our apps is stored only on your Mac and is never uploaded to us, synced, or shared. We never receive it, and it is never included in analytics.
- ClipDock: your clipboard history (text and images) and favorites.
- BatteryDock: your battery readings and daily battery-health history.
- NoteDock: your notes.
- OCRDock: the text it recognizes. The screenshot used for recognition is discarded immediately and is never saved or sent anywhere; recognition runs on your Mac.
You can export or erase this data at any time from the app's Settings, under Privacy & Data.
Information we collect
The apps send anonymous usage analytics, which are on by default and can be switched off at any time (see "Your choices"). We do not collect your name, email address, Apple ID, payment information, or any account details inside the apps — the apps have no accounts.
When analytics are on, each event can include:
- What you did, by name only: for example that a feature or setting was used, that a window or settings tab was opened, onboarding progress, whether a system permission prompt was granted or denied, how long a session lasted, and that an error occurred (a short label, not its contents).
- App details: the app's name, version, and build number.
- Basic device details: your Mac's model, macOS version, language and time zone, screen size, and whether you are on Wi-Fi.
- A random install identifier: generated by our analytics provider on your Mac. It is not linked to your name, email, Apple ID, or any account.
- Approximate location: our analytics provider receives your IP address with each request and uses it to work out your general region.
We never collect what you copy, type, or write; note text; recognized or captured text; screenshots; file names; or the contents of your clipboard.
Crashes: if an app did not quit cleanly last time, it notices on the next launch and records that a recovery happened. No crash logs, stack traces, or memory contents are collected.
Information you send us: anything you include when you email us for support.
How we use information
- To operate, maintain, and improve our apps
- To understand which features matter and prioritise development
- To spot and fix problems, such as a feature that errors often
- To respond to support requests
Third-party services
We use PostHog, a product-analytics service hosted in the United States, to process the analytics described above. It may only use that data to provide its service to us. We may add or change analytics providers; if we do, this page will be updated. Apps downloaded through the Mac App Store are also subject to Apple's own privacy practices.
Data retention and security
Analytics and diagnostic data are kept only as long as needed for the purposes above. We use reasonable safeguards to protect the information we hold, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Your choices
Every app lets you turn analytics off: use the "Share anonymous usage data" switch on the app's last onboarding screen, or later in Settings → Privacy & Data. With it off, no analytics events are sent. In the same place you can export your data or reset the app, which erases the content it stores on your Mac. Quitting or uninstalling an app also stops all analytics. To ask about, access, or delete analytics data associated with you, email hello@getmoneyplant.ai.
Children
Our apps are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date above shows when it last changed, and continued use of an app means you accept the updated policy.
